This chain extender and connector is made with Type A Burmese Jadeite, hand carved in that dreamy icy translucence with soft floating green. The jade has an almost watery quality. Pale, luminous and quietly beautiful.

At the center are three 平安扣 ( Ping An Kou) motifs, one of the most beloved forms in traditional Chinese jade jewelry. The circular shape symbolizes peace, safety, harmony and wholeness. 平安 means peace and well-being. The open center is also associated with balance and the idea of life moving smoothly and safely.

I wanted to take that old symbolism and give it a very modern purpose.

Two oversized 14k gold swivel dog clips turn the jade carving into a six-inch connector. Clip it onto a necklace when you want extra length.
