Some antique pieces are beautiful. And then some just have "it".
This is one of those pieces I would spot from across the room.
A substantial 41.11 grams of solid 18k gold, with these incredible wide engraved links that feel almost like tiny gold plaques connected together. Look closely and you see stars, clouds, and little celestial details worked into the gold. Nothing is flat or ordinary. Every section catches the light differently.
And the weight? So good!
At 6.5mm wide, this is not a dainty antique chain. It has that slightly masculine, borrowed-from-another-era feeling that makes old watch chains so cool worn as necklaces today.
Then there is this big beautiful locket hanging in front.
It is engraved on both sides with completely different designs, so even the locket has two personalities. The oval cartouche, geometric engraving, and tiny details are exactly the kind of craftsmanship that makes me stare at antique jewelry way too long. Inside, the glass compartment is still in excellent condition, waiting for a photograph or something private and sentimental.
I especially love this one worn simply. White tee. Crisp shirt. Black cashmere. Maybe a few chains around it if you are incapable of leaving well enough alone, like me.
It has enough presence that you really don't need to do much.
And at 41+ grams of 18k gold, it feels as luxurious as it looks. The French Eagle Head hallmark is still there, quietly confirming its French 18k gold heritage.
Old gold, celestial engravings, a secret locket, and that slightly tough watch-chain energy.
Basically all my favorite things in one necklace.
